Brother Jimmy’s BBQ Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Usually get the pulled pork sandwich. Worst ever at this location! The bread is cold, pork is hard. Brussels sprouts were under cooked!

I've been to Brother Jimmy's BBQ a few times and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. It's in a good location and it's a great place to watch a game. The food though... Just not enough to bring me back. I wouldn't spend my money here for BBQ, I'd rather drive a little for much better food. I will say the nachos are a pleasant surprise. Other than that, the food is pretty lacking. Nothing special.

A legit, down home BBQ place should have a nice aroma of smoke and fixings greet you as you walk in the front door. Brother Jimmy's has a more family friendly than down south vibe, so it's more like 3.5 stars. I stopped by here last Saturday for dinner and had pleasant service from my waitress Kandace, though I did have a little bit of a wait from the two hostesses up front, and needed to remind once or twice to get a soda refill. The food itself was actually pretty decent. I dined on a half BBQ chicken that contrary to my phobia of bone-in food, actually had a plenty of juicy meat. As I said before, the taste was more like regular rotisserie chicken and was thankful to have the three jars of BBQ sauce I could combine to boost the flavors. My favorite sauces were a the mustard based and the sweet sauce. I'd certainly prefer a little more smokiness in the taste, but certainly had a good dinner.

Oooof. This is some pretty subpar, chain-y BBQ. I'd eaten in the past at the Brickell location, which which I found meaningfully better than my lunch at the Sunset Drive location. I ran in here for a quick lunch. The good news: my server was attentive, understanding of my need to hustle, and did in fact get me served and back out the door fast. But the food. I ordered the brisket two step. My bun was noticeably stale. The BBQ brisket was watery. The taste of the BBQ sauce itself was middling. I had sweet potato fries. They were a bit dried out. The best thing on the plate? The pickles, which were very, very, good. Unless you are walking around Sunset and and having a seriously huge craving for BBQ, I'd give it a pass.

Every time I find myself in shops of sunset I try to pass by brother jimmys ! The staff there is extremely friendly and welcoming. From the second you walk in the hostess make you feel as if you're home with their excellent southern hospitality. The food never fails to be more than perfect and their selection of beers is out of this world.( they also have a full bar) Manager passed by our table to ask how everything was, he was outstanding!!!! ** if you happen to find yourself at brother Jimmys I strongly recommend you try their baby back ribs and their deep fried Brussels sprouts YUMM *** Prices are also not bad at all ($$) Overall I would say BROTHER JIMMYS is bringing some much needed southern hospitality and food to Miami! I recommend you ALL stop by.

I was here for lunch today. I was either going to have a burger or the pork sandwich. After asking, the waitress highly recommended the pulled pork sandwich. It was good but forgettable. With that I had two draft beers. No complaints from me about the service. The place is cute and farmish. If I'm in the area and in the mood for barbecue, I may or may not stop here to eat. I will, however, possibly stop here again for their bar. That was somewhat impressive for a barbecue joint. Things to note and blah, blah, blahs: * Parking - paid street parking and garage parking behind Sunset Place. Sunset Place also offers valet. * Right at the main entrance to Sunset Place. * Metrorail - If you choose to take the Metrorail to this area as a whole, the South Miami Station is literally a short 5-10 minute walk to the entrance of Sunset Place. Length of time depends on vehicle traffic you have to cross. * Nice outdoor seating with a view of the whole area. * Lots of TVs but at a limited positioning. Not everyone gets a view. * You know that smell you inhale when entering a barbecue joint? Well, I didn't get that here. Neither outside or inside, hence, the three stars. I didn't get that "barbecueish" feeling here other than the look.

This was my first time here and I loved it! Super chill place right in Sunset Place. Perfect place to go before going to the movies. The staff was super friendly, our waitress Gina was so sweet and brought the kids balloons and the manager on that particular Sunday afternoon was very attentive as well. Food was typical chain restaurant food but yummy enough. I had the nachos which were huge and I couldn't even finish it. My BF had mini burgers which he liked and the chicken tenders for the kids which were chowed down! They give this super yummy bread covered in sugar and other unhealthy yummy goodness as appetizers. Overall, the fact that the staff was so attentive and nice made the experience a good one for us.

I ended up at brother jimmys last Sunday trying to win kiss country under cover concert tickets and I was pleasantly surprised with the brunch menu. I had the chicken and waffles which other than the chicken being more batter than meat, were pretty decent (it's hard to taste bad covered in syrup and powdered sugar) and an added perk was the bottomless mimosas included with every meal purchase. I would have preferred less oj in my champagne but the bottomless part made everything okay.

Dear Brother Jimmy's, All first impressions start at the front of the house...right? Or am I sadly mistaken? If this is true, why not employ a host/hostess who actually leaves a long lasting one? I went there yesterday, Friday January 23rd, 2015 around 1pm for lunch with my best friend. We happily made our way from suburbia, both eager and excited to have lunch here. As we walked up to your front doors, we came across the most unfriendly and most unenthusiastic hostess I've ever had the displeasure of meeting in my adulthood years. She had zero personality and portrayed an unapologetic attitude. I am your paying guest, make me feel welcome, I thought. Fortunately, I did not feel left out. I witnessed the aforementioned demeanor with other patrons making their way in for lunch as we sat close to the entrance. A few qualities that define a really good host/hostess: Personable Friendly Enthusiastic Well Spoken Good Eye Contact Presentable A warm, friendly greeting goes a long way. Have them fake it at least. On to the goods... ***** 5 SOLID STARS ***** Jimmy's BurgerShack Minis - Beautifully seasoned, beautifully cooked! These mini cheeseburgers are simply plated with a side of pickles. No mayo, mustard or ketchup. Only the bun, patty and cheese with pickles on the side. The meat is so juicy and flavorful; it does not need any other condiments. Works well as an appetizer! Lunch portion only comes with 2 sliders. Choice of beef, turkey or fried buffalo chicken. Pulled Pork Quesadilla - ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My favorite quesadilla hands down! It is packed with so much flavor all thanks to the slow smoked process and Jimmy's Carolina Sauce, a vinegar mixture. Man is that good! They don't skimp out on the pork either! Choice of pulled pork, brisket or bbq chicken. Crack Pie - You'll be hooked! It's a gooey buttery filling with a flaky oat cookie crust. Complemented with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and a side of whipped cream. It's good to share this dessert as it might become overly sweet. Personally I would have preferred my crack pie at room temperature or warm even. **** 4 STARS **** Smoked Marbled Brisket - It has so much flavor but it's not the best I've had. I know brisket is a tough cut of meat. That is why its preferred cooking method is low temperatures and long hours to minimize the toughness if not you will have a chewy and most likely dry brisket. This brisket was good in flavor, juicy even but not tender. Very chewy. *** 3 STARS *** Mac N' Cheese - Not amazing but has good flavor and the pasta is texturally pleasing. The cheese sauce is a bit soupy. That's a crime in itself. ADD MORE CHEESE when runny! This dish has great potential. ** 2 STARS ** Cornbread - Moist, a little bland. Not my favorite. * 1 STAR * :( Sauces - The sauces on our table were way watered down (with the exception of the Carolina Sauce). I did not care for them. Our server... Meh, nothing to brag about. Simply put...this location can learn a lot from Suzanne's store over at Dolphin Mall. She leads by example and it shows. Big difference from your Sunset Place location. Sincerely, AnaKaren G.

Went here with 4 other people while waiting for a bowling lane at Splittsville, which is on the 2nd floor. When we arrived at the inside bar, there were maybe 2 or 3 other people. We were there for happy hour and all ordered beers, the bartender didn't know how to work the taps too well since I ordered a pilsner and 1/2 of it was foam when she poured it. We also order fried pickles and a quesadilla... 25 minutes later our bowling lane was ready but not our food. There were very few people at the restaurant so not sure what took so long. The fried pickles were OK, but not as good as Hooters or Buffalo Wild Wings. The Quesadilla was terrible, someone asked if it was a burrito - one hot mess. I wouldn't recommend coming here since the service is slow and the food is not very good. For happy hour, Splittsville actually has colder beers and better food. I would go there even if I wasn't bowling.

So after our first experience I really saw no overwhelming reason to go back. Tonight I let my 4 year old pick the restaurant and she picked Brother Jimmy's. It's just not good and not worth the price. I ordered her a kids cheeseburger and the pulled pork platter for myself. The waitress suggested the Mac N Cheese as a side. My platter came out about 2 minutes later and everything was room temp. Nothing was hot - barely warm at best. Unfortunately the Mac N Cheese had no taste and my salt shaker was clogged. I asked for another and that one was clogged as well ?! The pulled pork had decent flavor but it was very fatty and again not even hot. My daughter seemed to like the cheeseburger and I guess the saving grace was that the kids meal was free with the purchase of an entree. But the food is not worth it and I can't believe this place has survived this long. We won't be going back.

So my wife and I tried brother Jimmy s for the first time on Saturday. We sat down and ordered drinks we shared a Stella and water. We then ordered guacamole and chips and the we order a full rack of ribs w/fries, which we shared because it was alot of food. Food was good, that was not the problem. The problem started with the fact that I felt we were in a dance club. The music was loud and we could not hold a conversation we had to yell to here each other. I went here to eat not dance. The other issue was they put us next to the main exit door so everytime some one opened the door Hot, humid air slammed us in the face. And the last issue is I was never offered a refill for my water. So this place gets two stars only music too dam loud, no water refill, and hot air hitting in the face. Food was okay.

I'm not sure why this place has middling reviews. From the moment I walked in I was treated with funny, friendly service. The food was prepared quickly, the humongous loaded nachos being it's own meal and then some. The pulled pork bbq burger was delicious and stuffed to the brim with meat. Our table got frequent water refills and the waitress made sure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. Great experience, will definitely come again!

With all the negativity, I'm sure the folks at Brother Jimmy's are looking forward to the college kids coming back. You see, college kids understand Brother Jimmy's isn't going to be the best meal they've ever had. College kids understand that it's best to think of it as a sports bar, especially when football season rolls around. You see, I was once said college kid. I remember going to the Brickell location and being underwhelmed by the food and service. Even so, I found myself constantly dragged back there by my friends and as time went on, I learned to like the place... as a bar. This new location is in a very family-oriented neighborhood and the owners made sure they had the kiddies in mind when designing the place. That being said, there is still an open bar area which I particularly like. They have plenty of TVs everywhere, delicious cocktails, beer and whiskey. If you've never had a pickleback shot, this is the place to try one. I've tried the food here and haven't been too disappointed by the ribs, Brussels sprouts or guac. Best BBQ in the city? Heck no. But if you have an immediate craving and are in the area, it should suffice. While the previous reviews aren't super encouraging, I'm sure this place will survive once school starts back up again. When the college kids return, I'm certain they'll be thankful they don't have to go all the way to Brickell for a Bro J's experience.

Well YELP has it right...other reviews are accurate. 2 stars is it, no more. The Brussel sprouts are good but other than that not too good. The ribs must be boiled or steamed as they lack deep flavor. The girl out front was an obstacle and not welcoming at all but we went in anyways... Probably should have kept looking.

I went to Brother Jimmy's BBQ with my family and we all had different meals. My husband had a brunch item.I had the ribs and they were perfectly cooked. I also had a side of fries, and baked beans with a side of fresh baked corn bread. Everyone we encountered was nice and friendly. i would recommend Brother Jimmy's to friends and family

All I can say is just come here. I usually come here with my brothers (no pun intended) and we have lunch and some drinks. The food is great and well priced. The menu isn't anything crazy but the ribs there are yummy. They have good table service and the girls are really nice and always greet us in. Dainelys is definitely your go to server. She is knowledgeable and has been there as long as I've been going there. She's a super cool server and is attentive! She actually checks on you unlike most Miami service.

Dined with my dad and son on a busy Sunday for brunch. My dad, who was visiting from Costa Rica, wanted to visit the sunset mall get lunch and shop . He wanted to try some bbq and he loved the food and the atmosphere. The restaurant was busy but we still received awesome service. The manager even visited our table and brought my son a balloon and made sure we were having a great time. I will definitely keep coming back.

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars, I would. The service was so terrible, it's laughable. I spoke to a hostess as soon as I got to the front of the restaurant who said I would be seated in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, the same server who had not left the bench, let me add, asked me if I wanted a table. Confused because I requested a table with this same server, and neither I nor the server had left the bench area, I said yes, I would to which she replied the wait would be 15 minutes. When I brought it to her attention that I had already been waiting there for 15 minutes, the server eventually left her post and brought me to a table. Imagine my surprise walking into the restaurant to find that it was completely empty, save for one couple at another table. Not only was the service terrible, but the food was just greasy and flavorless. The barbecue sauce tasted like water with no flavor what so ever and it was extremely runny. It also took so long for the food to come out also that I debated just leaving the restaurant without getting anything. Towards the end of my dinner, our waiter could not be found take the check. After waiting over half an hour, I literally had to go up to another waiter and give them my card so I can pay and go. Absolute worse experience of my life and I will never eat here again. I was born and raised in the south I really wanted a place to eat some good barbecue in Miami. Sadly, this was NOT the place at all. Complete waste of money.

We came here on a Sat night and the wait was suppose to be 30-40 min. Well the hubby really wanted to try this place since it was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Well the wait was more like 15min. Not bad! According to other Yelpers their customer service basically sucked. Well mine was awesome. That's why I put 4 stars. Our waitresses were awesome and were asked about the food by the manager. I love when they do that. Now the food is not my style of BBQ. It is a North Carolina type base which is more vinegary. I love vinegar and was surprised I didn't like it. The baked beans were pretty good but the mashed potatoes and gravy were awful. I think it's the gravy. I would go here again if my husband and son wanted to go. I prob would settle for something different. But def wouldn't go if i had a choice. Other than it not being my taste, the area and service was pretty good.

Horrible horrible horrible service. Sat at the bar, ordered a drink, and had to remind her to put my drink order in again after 10 minutes. Why the f$&@ else would I be sitting at the bar for 10 minutes if I hadn't ordered a drink already?! Who ever manages this place failed miserably in hiring their employees. I came on a Friday night and it was empty and STILL couldn't get service!

A poor excuse for a bbq place. Having been to great upscale BBQ places, this place is a ripoff. Overpriced items, terrible service, bland taste, all 3 of my dinner party were terribly disappointed. Never again will this place get my business. Extremely loud music, having to yell at my dinner companions is no way to eat. I guess the bar is what keeps this place open.

If you had a choice to eat anywhere in sunset place, DO NOT choose this place. The food is awful. Our waiter was great and friendly but that's it. We ate turkey sliders and it was disgusting and also the ribs. So again DO NOT eat here. We had to return plates as well of how awful the taste was. The manager did not even come to our table and ask us. He actually walked out and our server apologized for him. He needed to hear that the food was that bad. I can't even describe the flavor of the food of how bad it was. Our table next to us even left their appetizer. They did not eat it. Weird. So one star because their is no other choice. Doesn't even deserve that. Sorry guys. But you will be disappointed. DO NOT GO!!!!

Bug in our drink and they were going to make us pay for it - until we fought to change it. Sides were cold. Almost made us pay for children's kids meal. Six in our pt. Waiter was very understanding however and saved the day. We left comfortably but still irked by the whole thing.

Came in a couple weeks ago with a friend and sat at the end of the bar near the bar alley and watched a young man taking several shots. Moments later he farted, laughed and walked out while the servers called him by name and laughed. It reeked and forced us to leave. Decided to give it another chance and came in today and saw that he was actually a manager on duty. Never again. Would rather wait for the morning soup run at Camillus House on NW 7th Ave.

It was exactly what I expected. Not the best ever but certainly enjoyable. Loved the hush puppies, and the fried Brussel Sprouts were super good... I had the pulled pork sandwich and someone else had the pulled pork burger which was also good. Tasty whiskey selection too! Service wasn't exceptional but she was nice anyway. Would definitely come back!

This place is very underrated on Yelp! It's reminds of in my mind I'm gone to carolina. Great specials and since I will never go back to Mellow Mushroom, it will do. The food is actually really decent, service has always been stella. Industry Night and Ladies night, at the same damn time! Plus I can walk there.

Bring a fat wallet to this chain restaurant....small portions & pricey. Small portions of ribs in my opinion and it was just chain restaurant ribs, nothing out of this world. I came here around the afternoon and only the brunch menu was available until 3pm. So we ordered from there. I had the bourbon French toast and my husband got the rib platter. The French toast was drenched in the bourbon and it was too strong for my taste. It was way too soggy so I dove into my husband's plate and had the rib platter. The ribs were ok and like I said a small portion for $20something. I have had better ribs at other chain restaurants and much bigger portions. Also my orange juice was in a very small glass for almost $4. So not very happy about that. I left here still hungry and thirsty.... not satisfied. :(

Came here for dinner and was extremely disappointed by the service. From the beginning, the hostess was bothered that we asked for a table, sluggishly walked is over and dropped the menus and walked away. Took over 10 minutes to get a server, at which point we had to ask someone to help us. After placing our order, a waitress walked by and asked if we'd been helped. Two tables were seated after us and they got their food before us. I ordered a Bacon Burger and they brought out a hamburger and then the waitress was uninterested in hearing me out when I told her the dish was incorrect. Drinks came out about 5 minutes before the food, and we never got any refills, or were asked if we wanted to order another drink (rum and coke) 30 minutes passed after the meal and we still didn't get the check. Asked the server for it and it was almost as if we asked her to go to Mars and bring us back a Martian. Took her 10 minutes for that at which point she still didn't ask if we needed anything else or took our plates away from the table. Fact of the matter is, I will not be coming back here. Thanks for the short run BJ's...

  • Carolina T.

As I type this.... It's been 10 minutes and we are still waiting for our check! The food arrived quicker than our waiter. Let's begin with entering the establishment: 1. The hostess stand is outside, yet you can walk past them and they don't notice you are inside. 2. Our waiter came to greet us asked if we had ever been here when we said no she said "ok, what do you want to drink?" Never explaining why she asked us in the first place. 3. Our food arrived in less than 5 minutes, should be a good thing right? Unless it arrives cold and like the pulled pork has just been waiting to be served. 4. We were done eating and no sign of our waiter. Waited longer for the check than the food. Should have definitely checked the reviews before eating here. Will not be eating here again.

I wouldn't say that I was actually underwhelmed by BJ's, but I wasn't exactly blown away either. I went here for lunch recently with a buddy and although there service was good, the food for me is just ok. We started with the hush puppies, which tasted quite good, but were overly dense for me. I prefer them a bit lighter. I then had the pulled pork sandwich. It tasted good, but I was surprised by how dry it was. Where's all the moisture from the melted connective tissue??? That's the whole point for the slow roasted pork shoulder! But their sauces definitely left me lacking. I'm a sweet barbecue guy and this being a Carolina BBQ joint that just wasn't an option. They offer four of them: Regular - basic tomato based sauce with very little sweetness Chipotle - spiced version of above Mustard - basically vinegar with ground mustard seed Blazin' Hot - fairly standard Tobasco/Crystal type hot sauce One of the real highlights were the regular fries. They tasted great and were fried perfectly. I had to steal a bunch from my friend since I'd ordered the sweet potato fries. Oh, all this, and they are overpriced to boot. A reluctant three star mostly because I didn't dislike it enough for two.

I was nervous coming here because of the reviews but I have no problems whatsoever!! The waitress came to us in under 3 minutes our drinks were gotten quickly and our beginner food also came in quickly too. We ordered the Pulled chicken burger and the original burger and they came within 10 minutes! The waitress was very attentive and refilled our drinks everytime right on time! The food tasted amazing and not oily at all. I had absolutely no complaints with this restaraunt. I loves it alot!

BJs has so much potential! It has a great location, great looking restaurant, drinks, and a great theme -- BBQ! But they do very little with their potential. I got the sliced brisket sandwich and Mac n cheese... I was terribly disappointed. The meat was cooked so well! I thought it was going to be amazing but then I started to realize the long line of disappointment. BJs BBQ sauce is terrible...it's too bitter to go with what they're offering. They need a sweet, savory sauce. The service wasn't very good...the ambiance wasn't very good...in truth there just wasn't very much I liked about BJs. I wouldn't recommend coming here since there are tons of better BBQ options in the city.

The serivce was awful. We watied for 15 minutes before I had to flag down a busboy and ask him if we had a waitress. He said he would get one and we watied 5 more minutes before one finally showed up. We were there just to get something quick to eat so all we ordered was the spinach dip and a side of fries. The food took a little long to get to the table and the waitress didn't check on us at all. I had to wave at her to get her attention because we were in a hurry and we needed to pay. I guess since this seems like it is a colelge bar/restaurant and college kids don't really care about service, I can see how this place makes money. However, I for one, will not go back here.

So I live in South Miami and have driven by here many times and seen some people outside and figured with the size of the sign and colors well established they had money and they had a recipe. Well they have no recipe!!! I had the chicken it was tasteless the barbecue sauce is horrible, it's like water, no taste and the water taste well like water, had no drinks . To my amazement if you're a barbecue joint a franchise or well-established chain like this I would expect so much more, the chicken was probably the blandest most tasteless I've ever had. I had wanted to give them one star but the service was decent so I gave them two stars and that's pretty much just for cleanliness and the service but that's not what you build a restaurant around, you build it around a recipe and then out from there. I will never return, no wonder they have two stars across-the-board!

I came to brother Jimmy's for lunch since it's so close to my job. I usually don't like BBQ or am inclined to this type of food but I have to say it was so delicious! I deviated from the typical and got the brisket quesadilla and it was a winner!!!

I've been going to the original one on 2nd ave and 77th st since it opened. It is/was great. This one stinks. The wings, fries, ribs and everything else is just no good. Maybe the bosses will come into town and try it themselves and agree.

In the heart of Brickell Bay...My co-worker & I, went here for lunch. I am a fan, especially for lunch. I have not had a dinner experience yet. Ashley was our waitress. I had the grilled chicken wrap, fries, and guess what, comes with a free beer of choice. It was not a long wait and she multitask really well. She made sure we were ok. After we were done, she gave me a box, without asking and split our bill as well. Cherry on the Sunday? She gave us a free Shot of her choice. I recommend! Ashley is the person to see. :)

Not good. The baby back ribs were ok, but not juicy, a little dry and had a weird smokey taste. The meat was sub par at best. The bbq sauce they had was weird and vinegar based. The food took a long time. I wasn't impressed at all and wouldn't eat there again.

Well, there are few things better in life than good Southern cooking... Unfortunately, Brother Jimmy's falls a little short. Ribs are o.k., sides are o.k. Waitress was disinterested and food was, well, cold. Was really expecting to be wowed. Got the ho-hums instead. Just another Southern cooking wannabe.

Highly disappointed. This earned 2 stars due to the Karaoke. The Mac n cheese is flavorless and the cheese tasted like Velveeta. The coleslaw had too much of the dressing( wet and runny). The pulled pork was good. I ordered a top shelf margarita, paid top shelf price and it tasted like a basic well drink. Stick to the appetizers and Karaoke if you come on a Thursday. I won't be back.

In any other industry, a refund would be in order. 1. Fries - cold 2. Mashed potatoes - gravy tasted like cleaner 3. Popcorn shrimp - not crispy or flavorful 4. Frickles - the least disappointing item 5. Honey Badger (drink) - barely any bourbon, asked & got more 6. Guacamole - as good as packaged guac gets 7. Burger - Ok at best, ordered med-well, got VERY well 8. House liquor (as agreed by server) - bottom shelf 9. Service - Ok. Server working bar & our table so few visits. 10. Potential? Much more This place will close soon unless a miracle happens. So, why two stars? I've been to a place where a roach crawled on our table. Couldn't give them less than 1. So, no roaches = 2 in my book. Will NOT be going back.

After reading all the negative reviews we almost gave this place a miss. So glad we tried it anyway. Staff was attentive and helpful. Food was quick and HOT. (Many reviews complained of cold food?) I had the Pulled Pork sandwich and my husband the Fried Chicken. Very large portions that had great flavor. Kind of reminds us of Mr. Moe's in the Grove. We will be back!

Last Monday I was in the mood for a "brownie sundae". They have no 'formal' dessert menu but this guy (host?) outside told me what they had to offer-and this cute lil' tidbit about how a Fireman makes the desserts. I'm like COOL-I like Firemen and I like baked goods-so I have a seat at the bar. Worst sundae ever, lol. Joe (the bartender) made it much more enjoyable than the kitchen clearly intended it to be. I sat there trying to enjoy my not warm/hot brownie and this caramel stuff that was poorly squirted on there but I had to ask him to take it back to the kitchen and help make it easier to digest. He went and got me chocolate sauce (er, brownie mix) and it cheered me up. I'll admit I was a lil' pouty because I was not expecting caramel...either there's both sauces or there's the chocolate sauce...not caramel by itself...not when its not in the name-or so I thought. He warmed it up more too-yay! Seriously-who back there in chefs pants can't heat a brownie? I literally had better from my Easy Bake Oven. Then the brownie was more like a drier chocolate cake-which wouldv'e been okay if there weren't....3 hard chocolate chips in it. I defnitely wasn't expecting the harsh shift in texture (I spit them out into a napkin). It was comical, lol, and I didn't have many expectations at all either. Given that it's a bbq joint with no written list of sweet offerings (chalkboard maybe?) I only expected it 'warm' and 'chocolate'. Turns out its the one dessert they make IN HOUSE. I learned this at the end when I couldn't lie to Joe and say I liked it. I may have the key lime pie next time. The service factor is interesting-sometimes it sucks sometimes it don't. But if short shorts can make up for that...I suppose we'll call it even! If I could-it's worth 2 1/2 stars because of a decent HH hour.

Horrible service! There was a piece of metal in my appetizer. Horrified I handed it to the waitress who made no apologies but got the manager. The manager didn't say she was sorry either but she knew exactly what it was ....a metal bristle from what they used to clean the dishes. Yuck!! For my troubles they took off two sodas from our bill. My throat is still scratched up this morning. I will never ever ever return

Good happy hour. Wouldn't pay 15$ for soggy nachos, but after a few cheap beers this place isn't bad

I've seen some of the negative reviews but I had a wonderful experience. Miami doesn't offer a great deal in the way of BBQ. Sure there is Shorty's but it's steady decline has kept me away. I came to brother Jimmy's with a large party and had no trouble getting accommodated. We arrived at 12:30 in Sunday and the restaurant hadn't filled up yet. The server was all smiles and did a great job. The food was good as well. I ordered the sampler which included ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The brisket was a bit dry but everything else was just right. They also have a great Bloody Mary that comes with pickled vegetables skewered along side a slice of bacon...yum! I know the the BBQ purists wild frown upon a chain establishment but I would definitely come back for some ribs and pulled pork.

So it a shame to write this because the ribs are indeed good. However when we got there they made us wait 15 min and gave me a buzzer. When our table was ready I saw close to 9 tables empty. I asked the sever why we had to wait and she advised it was due to the kitchen strength. Waitress was nice but hardly came by. I live by here and walk. It's a shame we are going to lose this one. The owner/manager obviously doesn't pay attention to help reviews. What a waste of a good potential.

Stopped in this afternoon with wife and daughter, not having read the negative reviews others have posted. Honestly, we had a great time. Sampler platter was great, and "frickles" were a fun treat. Sauces were flavorful and the bucket of wings (with sauces on the side by request) were hot and juicy. Good variety of beers and whiskeys, and our server was efficient, pleasant and helpful. Lots of flat screens around with more than just soccer on. As for the crowd at 2 pm, the restaurant and bar were two-thirds full (certainly not the ghost town others have mentioned). Is it the greatest barbecue food around- nope. But it was pretty darned good and we will be returning!

This place was ok. There's plenty of TVs in case you want to watch something. Least favorite point is that everything tastes like it has the Bush's baked bean sauce in it. Even the nachos have BBQ sauce. BBQ overload. Ew. The avocado salad was sweetened. If you're like me and prefer it saltier than sweet, you're in for an odd surprise. We felt rushed at the end.

My friends and I just stopped by for some drinks and we couldn't complain. The bartender was a fun and amiable person who honestly recommended things to us, not just because it's their "specialty." It's a bit more restaurant-like than we thought but we still managed to find an area to dance around in, especially since there was a DJ and it was the weekend (and we live dancing).

If I could give the restaurant negative starts I would. I left there feeling like I had wasted my money and time. It was horrible from the service to the flavor of the food. We got there and waited 20 before our waitress acknowledged us and asked if we needed anything. That was even after we told another employee (possibly hostess) that no one had come to attend our table. So after finally being acknowledged we told the waitress we had been there 20 minutes all we got was "oh, I was helping another table." So we places our order and had all the food, both appetizer and entrees, brought at the same time. What's up with that? A starter is ordered to start. Not to take forever and be brought out all together like if she forgot to bring it earlier. And throughout the meal she may have passed by the table ONE time to see if we needed anything. And to top it ALL off the food was horrible!!! We both had the combo where we picked two types if ribs, brisket and pulled chicken/pork. I maybe ate half my food and didn't care to take the rest home. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone! Miami has so many other restaurants serving much better BBQ.

I don't think we'll be coming back here. Come on a Friday night and had to wait a while but that's expected in Miami. When we finally sat down, it took at least ten minutes for someone to come and take our drink orders. Finally we ordered our meals. The food took a while to arrive and it was nothing to brag about at all. I had ordered the spare ribs and they were hard as a rock! I only ate the baked potato and cole slaw. It is a bit overpriced for the quality of food. Don't think we'll be coming back. I think Shivers BBQ down south is a million times better.

Very good, ordered all the sides. Grilled Brussel sprouts were outstanding and the environment is very fun both for young people and families. Life size Jenga is fun. Drinks are delicious and staff very attentive. Spotless restrooms

Went last night (Sunday) and had an all around terrible experience. Our server was pleasant and prompt with refills, but we waited nearly an hour for 3 cheeseburgers! When the food finally arrived it was most definitely not worth the wait. French fries were soggy, flavors of the burger were subpar. The wait experience was somewhat tolerable due to the TVs broadcasting the western conference finals, but still ridiculously long for such a simple order. The kitchen is way too slow. And though the giant Jenga may be fun to play, the crashing sound it makes each time it tumbles is completely unnerving. Then the check came. $3.50 for a coke is just plain ridiculous. We paid well over $15 each for our drinks and burgers. I would have much rather gone to Five Guys or Shake Shack for the quality and experience Brother Jimmy's gave us. We won't be back.

I've been 3 times to this location and was only impressed once. Went last night and the Memphis dry rub ribs were OK. The wet ribs were a disaster. Cornbread was dry and mealy. My beer wasn't cold. On another occasion it was better but not by a lot. Had the minis and enjoyed. Still I think it is very expensive for BBQ that is substantially inferior to Shorty's.

I really wanted to like this place! Shops at Sunset Place needs good anchor tennants (Myself a business owner in this mall) My family and I went there the first time, the service was slow, and the food was cold and we found plastic in our food. Ok so the manager came over and made it right, we accepted that the place and the first visit was ok.... We went there again today and the service was horrible!! AGAIN. Waiter and seater failed to get my kids their booster seats and high chairs, they came in and out of their back room many times empty handed. After asking 3 times my wife got up to get the high chair herself, finally after waiting we just left. This place is terrible. Management needs to go back to school, the hosts need to be trained more and the food needs to be hot to eat. Shame, Sunset needs good places, and this sure is not one of them. Avoid this place, eat out of the dumpster first. At least the service will be better.

I have been meaning to try this place for a while, it fell short on almost everything. I had the nachos which were bad. Bad chips, bad cheese, and whatever brisket. Imagine week old tostitos with a American singles melted on top. The only thing that could have saved the nachos was the guac but for 14$ they should have been the best nachos I ever tried. Then I got the southern platter. You can pick 4 out of six options. I got chicken, two kinds of ribs and pulled pork. To start food was cold when It arrived. The chicken and wet ribs were bad, they were smothered in sauce but the sauce wasn't great, the chicken tasted bitter (I hope that on purpose) and the ribs were mostly fat. The southern ribs and pulled pork were surprisingly excellent. Service was good, our waitress was attentive and kind, but I saw other tables complaining about theirs. The food came out fast, but I would have preferred that it took a while longer and the food to be hot. The check was 42$ with no drinks. I get that south Miami is not the cheapest place to eat out in Miami, but for the quality of the food its hard to justify. Overall, I will give this place another try. The atmosphere was nice to watch a game and have a drink, but I will skip the food.

Tuesday. Lunch... Why did I come here? Empty restaurant.... BAD SIGN! It never fails. Miamians like to eat.... If empty...NOT GOOD! Ordered BJ's humongous nachos. Yeah.... Humongous amounts of chips. Very very lean in meat...... Almost sprinkled on top. Don't even want to continue with this review. Simply disappointing. I usually give restaurants a second chance..... Not this time. Not coming back, ever!

I was looking forward for months to Brother Jimmy's grand opening, but to my surprise I was greatly disappointed. I was hoping for some good comfort food but instead got a taste of some pretty bland fare. I had delicious fried pickles in Tennessee at a BBQ joint and was hoping to find some pretty tasty ones at Brother Jimmy's, but was not successful. Don't know if I'll give Brother Jimmy's another shot-perhaps.

We we a table of 8. My husband had to return his rack of ribs because they were so overcooked you could smell the charred meat. They replaced them with babyback ribs that were not as burned as the first batch but almost the same. The mac and cheese was super dry. The baked beans were dry as well. The fried chicken had no flavor and was also over cooked. My daughter accidently ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and she was glad she did because my fried chicken was just not appealing. My eight year old ordered chicken wings and they brought her three chicken wings burned as well. The burger and nachos were the most decent although I really don't care for baked beans on my nachos too sweet. It's a shame because they have a great and trendy location.

Just came back from Jimmy's BBQ on a Sunday afternoon. My friend wanted to try this place and I was starving so BBQ sounded awesome. The atmosphere is pretty cool but the staff did not impress me. They were nice in general but weren't really into representing their organization. In other words they weren't into it. I had the combo ribs with mashed potatoes and country gravy. Now I was starving so I expected my experience to be better. The mashed potatoes have no taste, the corn bread was extremely dry and nothing special. The ribs were pretty generic and to be honest I've tasted better through mail order. There are sauces at the table and the staff didn't seem to have much of a clue of what they tasted like other than to read me the labels. Now of course you have to eat your ribs with your bare hands. But fear not because they will give you one 4 x 6 inch wetnap per person that instantly shreds into pieces upon contact with your skin. The paper towel dispenser was broken in the men's room, the handle was missing and you had to stick your finger in the mechanism. You would seriously think that a BBQ joint would have an automated dispenser. So really nothing here to write home about. Another Miami BBQ place that's not. Don't order dessert, save your $6.50 for the parking since they don't validate.

Positives plenty of quality tv's, good atmosphere, cornbread was good Negatives the food was sub par, the ribs were very fatty The beer was soo expensive! Expect south beach prices for the beer. Also the ribs were $20. Our server was not very friendly and our food took long despite the place not being very busy.

Just stopped there for lunch today. We were seated right away inside but took about 10 minutes for a server to come and that was after we asked for someone. For some reason our server also had the outside tables. The food we ordered came out a bit cold but my kids food was hot. Server never checked on our drinks until we were half way through our meal and by then we had our waters provided by a different server. The wet ribs were actually quite dry and the hush puppies were flavorless. Good beer selection and kids eat free with adult entree. Don't think we'll be back though. We paid less at Earls where the food was better and service was on another level.

Heard about this "new hurricane bar" decided to check it out! Sure glad I did! Went in for Sunday brunch the first time and l Ioved the Jameson banana french toast, service was OK. The second time I sat at the bar and the atmosphere changed! My bartender was very helpful and attentive. It felt as though we were friends, she was a dancer for Florida State and i danced at UM! I'll definitely be back, maybe even for the FSU vs UM GAME with all of my friends.

Service is poor, the person who was helping us said he was a bartender filling in. Odd because he didn't know much about the drinks. The tables outside were so loose they were dangerous, nothing but excuses from the waiter. I asked for the manager, he corrected the situation, honestly though he seemed disturbed. The prices here mind you are not cheap, not 5 star either. But I can tell you with the quality, quantity and service, they need to cut their price in half, re evaluate their menu or close. There were 6 of us and no one was happy. My Cobb salad had about 3 ounces of checken, I compared it to a Cobb at Miller Ale House for 4.00 less, which has tons more toppings. My wife had the turkey burger, but returned it, too greasy. We have been eating at Bobby Flay in Dadeland, my wife love's their turkey burger, and by the way cheaper. Come on folks, do these people check competition? Does the manager check what is going out of the kitchen. There are restaurant s we will return to, this is not one we would return to.

Well located in Shops of Sunset. Service was a bit slow initially but was very good once we placed our order. We had pulled pork and brisket plates. Pulled pork was really good and the brisket was very lean (you have a choice here) but still quite tasty. Sides (Mac n cheese and tomato avocado salad) were good. I'm happy I can get good barbecue that's relatively healthy. Good selection of beer. Prices reasonable. We'll be back.

This is by far the worst location in an otherwise tasty food chain. The management is completely inept and are incapable of running an orderly restaurant. No one is trained from the hostess to the bar tender to the " waitresses", which results in unpleasant waits, frustrated crowds, and COLD BBQ. THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN COLD BBQ. Morals of the story is the staff seems like a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off, and it's hard to cook without a head.

The BJ's Backyard Burger is delicious and well worth a visit. The lunch specials are great and come with a free soda or beer. The beer selection is very generous and offers a lot of smooth craft beers. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We waited longer than we should have to get our food. We also had to wait extra long to get our bill. Hopefully it's just a one time thing cause the food is great.

The burger was FABULOUS for an eh place. But the service was horrible. I guess I can't complain too much. They waitstaff are college kids. There was a man who walked around an asked how everything was, but I just said "fine", I wasn't going to start. This isn't a fancy restaurant.

Didn't get a chance to eat because I literally got sat down with my date waited about 15-20 minutes on a slow Monday night didn't get our drinks or anything its 2 people guys it isn't that hard should be first thing done didn't like the service at all which sucks because I was really looking foward to trying the newly opened restaurant. They have the right idea for a fun BBQ spot at sunset maybe should work on finding new management servers or training them properly to what priority service is.

I love this place!!! Great food! Great vibes! Great atmosphere! Came in to watch Miami game and it is THE place to go watch games. Not your typical bar with BAR food. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese! It was delish! If I get the chance to visit again I'll definitely be back.

Luis the bartender is an amazing dude! Funny, entertaining and always helpful in trying new mixtures of drinks. This place is fun and my go to place for games and BBQ needs. The pulled pork sandwiches are amazing. The full sized Jenga is also fun. But careful when/if it falls on you

Ive had better. WAY BETTER! Besides the horrible service all the food was bland. Doesnt matter how much you slow cook something you should probably season the meat a little bit...it wouldnt hurt. And the BBQ sauce at any bbq spot should be good... it wasnt. Vinegar based bbq sauce sounds ok... but I wasnt expecting to literally pour vinegar all over my wings. The bbq sauce on the table was soo watery it tasted like nothing and it made all the food taste worse then it already did. Def not a good BBQ, understandable why only college students enjoy it.. because they dont know any better and our always wasted anyways. GOOD LUCK!!

Brother Jimmy's gets a B- from me. I ordered the platter with both types of St. Louis ribs, chicken and brisket. The brisket is an A++, not overcooked and not overly smoked. The ribs and chicken on the other hand we're overcooked. The menu claims 5 - 12 hour cooking times. For spare ribs, 5 hours is twice as much that is needed. The ribs were mushy with black bones. There was no bite to them. The chicken breast was dry as can be. My sides (cole slaw and hush puppies) and the fried pickles appetizer were very good. My wife's shrimp and grits was poorly executed. A huge bowl of decent enough grits (not creamy enough) with a ring of floating little shrimp. I'd come back for the brisket and to try the fried chicken.

I love me some bbq! So when I heard Brother Jimmy's was going to open in Sunset I was excited yet skeptical. I visited the Brickell location and well, you can read my poor review on that page. But I decided to wipe the proverbial slate clean with the Sunset location. My boyfriend (and foodie partner) went to try this place out for Saturday at lunch. We were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. Our server, took our orders quickly but diligently. She didn't forget any of our requests. That's a plus considering the place was packed for all the college football games. The food was great! Delicious and impeccable. My boyfriend and I left there with our bellies filled with bbq! I would for sure come back.. well actually I did. The very next Monday night!

I had heard of the "swamp water" and was ready to see what all the fuss was about. I went on a Saturday night and there was a 35minute wait. My friend and I were okay with that. When our buzzer finally went off the hostess lead us to a table in a corner of the restaurant. This table was for two people and it was in the middle of no where. The table was not sturdy and was leaning in all directions. Ten minutes passed and no one came to our table, my friend and I got up and went back to the hostess. The hostess sat us in a new table. She then asked what we would like to drink we said swamp water! When the waitress comes back she brings our swamp water in a damn beer pitcher, it's supposed to come in a bowl! The authenticity of the swamp water was robbed. My friend and I proceeded to order. We both ordered chicken fingers, I ordered the house salad she ordered an avocado salad. AFTER FIFTY FIVE minutes our food arrives. My problem with the food taking forever is that if the kitchen at the restaurant is backed up on food orders the hostess should not sit people down until the kitchen is able to provide service. Well back to the food, when the waitress brings us our food after FIFTY FIVE minutes she let's my friend know there is no avocado. ! She couldn't tell my friend sooner? That way my friend would've been given the chance to chose another salad. Once we were ready to go we had to hound the waitress down to get our check. Our total was $50 for two chicken fingers, one house salad, and the swamp water in the damn beer pitcher. I know good service when I see it and I always compensate servers with 25% gratuity. My service was lame, my experience was bogus so I left an ordinary 15% tip. To conclude I'm never going to brother jimmys BBQ, the food was lame, and I didn't even get to experience the hype surrounding the swamp water.

I would give this place less stars, but our waiter Vanessa was really sweet. This place sucks, though. Food is extremely bland and pure fat - no real meat, expensive, and misproportioned. Music was blasting too, just a strange vibe to the whole place. Will NOT be returning.

Horrible. I wish I had listened to the reviews. The entire restaurant was empty and it still took 45 minutes to get the food out. Like when I tell you it was empty, I mean that we were the only people there. Food was over cooked and tasted terrible. Margarita was so bitter, I couldn't believe it. Told me it's suppose to be like that because "it's literally only lime juice and liquor". Service was horrible, very rude staff. Do NOT eat here. Don't even try to give it a chance, you will regret it.

I decided to try this place out since I was in Sunset Place with my son. This place is average. It ls not bad but its not too great either. The service is good but the food is forgettable. I do not know if I will eat here again with so many great choices in South Miami. My go to BBQ is still Shorty's. Also warning they do not validate parking.

What's more important to you - the food or the kid friendly environment?? Well thats what is challenging about this establishment. I love that Brother Jimmy's is super family and kid friendly. Every Time I have shown up with my girls I don't get the stiff eye or stuck up nose look from the hostess and or server. The inside has kid games, TVs everywhere to watch the games and awesome music - did I mention, kid friendly!! My girls sing and dance every time we go. However, the downside to Brother Jimmy's is the food and it's a huge disappointment. Their food is the equivalent to buying frozen food at the store, baking it at home, and up serving it for dinner. There side dishes are better then their main entrees and sandwiches. Their nachos are great with the brisket and there are other appetizers I like. You are better off eating appetizers then ordering a main dish. Sorry Brother Jimmys. I love your family friendly environment, but I have gone back to you 3 times and the food just doesn't cut it!

Do NOT order delivery from this place unless you have 3 hrs to sit around and wait and don't care if your order is all screwed up. Our office ordered today for lunch at 11:30 for 10 people and we didn't get our food till 1:15. And it was wrong and we were missing things. Apparently they use a delivery company and they do not have their shit together.....terrible experience. Don't offer delivery if you can't deliver.

Something is wrong here. I love the Brother Jimmys in Brickell, but this location is way off the mark. Service was just passable. Asked for lemonade and we got some sort of grey water with a lemon in it. Second try at the lemonade was lighter grey water with no lemon. Brisket was tasty but very dry and looked processed. Chicken wings tasty too but with a veeeeery long hair as a bonus. Tomato and Avocado salad was completely different. Same menu as Brickell but everything tastes or is some way a little off.

Went there with my wife and her family to check it out for the very first time this past week. We thought because it was a new place, it would be a great place to check out for great BBQ. We decided to go on a Monday for lunch. First of all...they were out of ribs and chicken. How is a bbq place out of ribs and chicken? The waiter said they had a busy lunch rush. We were there at 12:30 and the place was 90% empty. I asked if he could make a substitution to the combo meal since 2 of the 4 meats they offered were no longer available. He rolled his eyes and walked away. He came back and said No. We asked if we could talk to the manager, he walked away without saying anything again. The manager came to the table. She was nice...but we asked how a BBQ place could be out of ribs and chicken and she said it was still cooking and wouldn't be finished for another hour. We asked, can we substitute the ribs and chicken for another meat on the 4 meat combo since they are out? She said she's not allowed to do that. Meanwhile, the waiter, a guy with a mohawk kind of cut is behind the bar, talking to the bar server, both looking at our table laughing and rolling their eyes. I asked the manager what the deal is with our waiter and she said he had a bad weekend and was not in the mood for work today. SERIOUSLY!?!?!?! She also said she could not give us all white meat on the chicken even if they had chicken ready bcs they have everything rationed out. What a joke. Again, we told the manager...this is our first visit, we really want to try their food, what she could recommend. She totally looked uninterested in being there and almost like she felt bad that the rules are so "non-customer" friendly. MY THOUGHTS! This place is not to please customers. It's all about rations. There is no customer service skills at all. Really sad bcs we were really excited about seeing a new BBQ place in Miami.

Maybe I've just come at all the right times, but I really don't understand all the bad reviews for this place! Brother Jimmies is just what was missing in South Miami: a great, fun place to watch a game and grab a beer. The food is really yummy too, I'm crazy about their BBQ chicken nachos. I have noticed you get slightly better service at the bar, though. Ask for Shelby, she's really enthusiastic and helpful!

I wish I could go back in time and never eat here. The absolute worst food in the world. First of all, my boyfriend never leaves ribs and he left half. Mind u they only give u 5. I wish I could throw my food up and get my $$ back. Absolute worst food I've ever had in my life. NEVER EAT HERE!!! I'd be surprised if they last 6 months! WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND $$!

The worst place I've tried. This place is new right? The food tastes about two days old. Dry. The Mac and cheese, corn on the cob and ribs were dry. Should have stayed home and had a sandwich. Their needs to have supervision on food that comes out. New Place bad food. But service was good. The waitress tried to make it better.

Sat down at 8:30, ordered for 6 people on a Sunday night. The restaurant is not packed, but we have waited for over an hour for food, and the manager says the kitchen is getting "slammed". Was finally offered corn bread. ps: we had to wait a long time for a table because the restaurant doesn't have enough staff to seat all the tables. Pps: the benches are very uncomfortable. This restaurant will not last very long like this.

So disorganized and has the rudest little hostess who has the worst attitude and kept giving us bitchy looks the entire time we were here. However we had the sweetest waitress who made up for the bad first impression. Ask for Leah as your waitress!

Went with my husband after a 5K run thru South Miami. Service at outside bar was sub pat. The bartender did not want to be there and made sure everyo knew it. Had to send back first drink because soda was flat. Ordered food and after a 30 minute wait for two burgers the food was disgusting. Fries were limp and greasy. The burger was wrong and also tasteless. Definitely will not be going back. Manager offered other meal but I had no faith thr kitchen could perform.

I was so excited about this place because they have "dry rub" ribs. So my husband and I decided to try it out... Big mistake! The seasoning was VERY nice but the quality of the meat was really really bad!! There was sooo much fat it was disgusting. We ordered it with collard greens which was overcooked in my opinion and cornbread which was delicious LOL. The hostesses were not welcoming and the service not great. Not going back....

Been here 3 times and the only good things on the menu are the drinks, nachos, crispy chicken sandwich and minis. The regular BBQ chicken sandwich was dry and unflavored. The pulled pork sandwiches were ehhhh ok. Ribs were not good (not the wet ones or the dry rubs). The quesadillas were Taco Bell quality. Unless we're going for drinks and appetizers, we won't be back.

Slow corporate restaurant. Pretty servers with short shorts. Lots of TVs with sports. Slow kitchen on a slow Saturday lunch. Oh, and awesome, thick, crispy bacon

Went to Brother J's last night, it was OK. We requested a booth at the bar. It was packed and there were only 2 bartenders. It looked like they had split the bar work because one side was busy and that seemed to be the bartender who expo'd all of the restaurant drinks as well as her side of the bar and the other side of the bar the guy just sat there and watched tv - no love for the girl in the weeds. So it took forever to get our drinks, one whisky on the rocks and a Margarita. The Margarita was like tequila and pure lime juice, no sweetness, no balance. Heartburn central. Next we ordered spinach and artichoke dip and it was microwaved so long that the cheese in the sauce curdled and separated it looked like cottage cheese. Plus the chips were stale! They could do way better. For dinner we decided to order pulled pork sandwiches and rib combo. The pulled pork was almost warm BUT it was good. The ribs were lacking. Bark on the ribs nice, but I am not convinced that they smoke their meat in house, tasted like liquid smoke to me and they were dry. The fries appeared to be hand-cut, but were a big soft pile of mush. The décor and ambiance fun, great music. Our server was a little nervous and slow but very sweet, maybe just needed more training. There was a manager roaming the floors, he looked like he was having a good time with the staff, laughing etc, but not checking on tables. He actually ran the food to our table but never asked if we needed anything, just dropped it and left. In his defense, when we left our movie, we passed the restaurant at 12 midnight and he was working his behind off cleaning and stacking chairs. Overall I will give it another try, I want a BBQ restaurant to work In Miami so badly!! We all know that summer restaurants in Miami are hard to maintain because half the world is gone. So I will wait until fall and hopefully they get some of these kinks out.

Service was horrible. Our server forgot to put in my friends order. We all finished eating and he still hadn't gotten his burger. She messed up our side orders and then charges them additionally to each meal. Another friend didn't receive her corn dogs. And after all that we had asked her to split the check and she also forgot. I normally leave awesome reviews lol but this sucked. Oh and 21$ for miller light ?!?

The service at Brother Jimmy's in South Miami is downright awful. Based on my visits to the Brickell location, I should have known what to expect. On Sunday, April 20, 2014, at around 8:30pm, I arrived to Brother Jimmy's with my date. We were craving BBQ, and while Brother Jimmy's isn't necessarily authentic BBQ- just overpriced and overbranded smoke flavored fat- there are very little options in Miami for good BBQ short of lighting the grill yourself. Fortunately, we were never given the option of trying the food at this location, as the staff, still in its infancy, could not for the life of them figure out how to sit two people down in a nearly empty restaurant. There was no hostess when we arrived so we walked around the restaurant. My date wanted to sit in a table so we found a waiter and asked him if we could sit down. He told us to speak to the hostess, only there was no hostess. Then a lady who appeared to be the manager asked if we were being helped. We told her that we spoke to the waiter and he told us to speak to the hostess, but that there was no hostess. The manager said that they had just sat down three parties and that we had to wait. We had already been in the restaurant for 20 minutes and did not see a single party being sat down. Additionally, 75% of the tables were open. I told her that we could just sit ourselves down, but she insisted that we wait. We waited, and waited, and waited on a bench in the "lobby". No one was attending us. It was insulting. The more we waited, the more we questioned even eating there. After another 20 minutes of waiting for a table at an empty, cheesily decorated place, we decided to leave. The funniest part was that as we were walking out one of the workers fared us well, saying "thank you for coming to Brother Jimmy's, please come back." Yea right! I'd rather pay the extra $10 per dish and go to Swine, where the service is top notch and the overpriced menu actually tastes good. I am going to make it a point to tell my family and friends never to set foot in that neglecting trough of a dump. Brother Jimmy's is a chain originating in new york. They have experience opening up restaurants and should have at least mastered the art of sitting a couple down in an empty restaurant. I cannot comment on the food because after 40 minutes of waiting we never had the opportunity to try it, but if it's like the food in the Brickell location, you may want to ask for some extra briskett with that $20 heap of dry fat they serve you. Simply awful. If you want good BBQ in Miami hit up Bo Legs in North Miami or Shiver's in Homestead. Or just go to the supermarket, buy a six pack and some ribs and learn to do it yourself. It will probably take you quicker to master the art of rib making than it will to get a table at Brother Jimmy's in South Miami. I have never left a restaurant before until that night. We decided to forego our BBQ craving and head to el Chalan on Bird Road for lomo saltado. The second we walked in to el Chalan, which was packed, we were seated and immediately served water and their delicious green sauce. Our food came moments later, and the lomo was eternally more flavorful than anything you could find at Brother Jimmy's. Our bill for two turned out to be less than one entree from the Jimmy's menu. Brother Jimmy's in South Miami does not deserve to be open. Do yourself a favor and never step foot into this establishment. I would rather starve to death than eat at Brother Jimmy's. And given the wait time, you might just starve to death before being seated.

Went Saturday night before a movie at Sunset Place. The service was very good. The food...not so much. Was there with 2 others and we were not sure what to order so we ordered the appetizer sampler of 3 mini sandwiches and they gave us one of each...a brisket sandwich, pulled chicken and pulled pork. Great way to see if you like one particular sandwich over another. The brisket comes lean or marbled. This sampler had marbled which to me means a little bit of fat throughout. This was pure fat. It was gross! Pulled chicken was sauced and okay and the pulled pork had no sauce and it was just okay too. I ended up with the lean brisket which was quite dry. I don't usually like barbecue sauce and this was no exception. In fact I tasted the original sauce and it was so cloyingly sweet...horrible. Server said this is NC BBQ...sauces are vinegar based. Yuck! I asked the server for some ranch dressing and that made the sandwich more palatable. I had a side of fried Brussels sprouts which were very good. They were actually sautéed with crispy outsides. Really yummy! Then there was one really annoying thing. Apparently they allow people to play Jenga in the bar so every few minutes you'd hear the wooden Jenga blocks crashing down and it is so loud that most people were startled the first time they heard it. If you're going to have that have a padded area where it won't sound like someone dropping a full tray of dishes. It happened at least 3 times during our dinner. Others liked their food but we all said it was not great. Their prices were a bit high on some things. Definitely too high for the quality. Expensive real estate to pay for. Probably won't go back. I'll stick with Shorty's!

For being in the best spot possible in south miami, this place is spectacularly below average. Food is really not good but worst part was my husband and I walked up to door and the hostess at podium to right of door, looked directly at us and then continued to chat to the young man who was hanging out with her. I kid you not, we stood there for a full four minutes unacknowledged. We then stopped a waitress to ask for help and she advised she wasn't able to help. Eventually another girl came out and sat us inside. Our food was nothing special. We had burgers and a rib dish and fries. Not impressed and probably will never return.

Over priced bland, souless, over cooked food. Overpriced small Margarita more bitter than anything I tasted. Slow friendly service. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not dine here again.

Brother Jimmy's South Miami is an exercise in things not to do. I will preface this review by stating that I have been employed in the restaurant biz my entire adult life (I've opened 2 restaurants from scratch) and was only looking for a decent chain restaurant experience. This was my third visit and my certainly my last. I arrived at noon and sat at the bar. I ordered a bloody mary and asked to see a menu. When the bloody mary arrived it was orange--like orange juice orange and milky. The tender came over and asked how it was and I responded, "why is it orange and milky?" and he said "they made it with too much horseradish." Now, not that I am some ninja savant of restaurants but it would have been the correct time to ask if I would like something else. Nope. Didn't happen. I then ordered the brisket sandwich which came out cold along with the sides and so tough even the bbq sauce couldn't rehydrate it. It was only after having clearly being finished for quite some time (over half of it still remained on the plate) the bartender asked how it was and all I could muster was making a face of disgust and slid it toward him saying, "not great." I then asked for my check, still with half a bloody in front of me and that was that. The kicker was that everyone else at the bar was given a brunch menu which I was not, so I got to watch everyone next to me get items like chicken and waffles which was not offered to me. This place is a JOKE. On an early visit (last Sunday at noon) I was told by another bartender that they had already sold out of bloody mary mix so they were not available and also never shown a brunch menu. There was someone who appeared to be a manager walking about the lounge, but did not appear to have an eye on the bar. I only wanted a fair meal with fair service at a fair price and what I got was a bad taste in my mouth and terrible service and management. This place is a JOKE.

Terrible experience. Ordered the pulled pork quesadilla and we couldn't eat it. Was beyond salty and burned to a char. Told the waitress and she told the kitchen and they agreed. No apology, no one from management took ownership to explain what happened. I eat out about 7-8 times a week and this place will not make it with this food and lack of service. I asked the hostess where the restroom was and she laughed and said "I don't know I'm new" that's it. Seriously. I wish I had taken a pic of the dish. The interesting part of the night was the owner Jon Vilma was there and the food and service was still terrible. On a good note the draft beers are half off and we found out when we got our bill that the apps were half off. Might have been nice if the waitress/bartender told us that when we asked about happy hour specials. Managment, good luck. You need to really step up your game. Not a well run restaurant and with so many choices in S Miami this will not cut it. Prediction: out of business in 2 years.

Terrible First Experience! I see them popping up everywhere and the food is pricey for what they have. Let me start my review by saying that we decided to try it this past saturday night. It was around 8pm and I was pleasantly surprised there was no waiting, we were seated right away however it took 15 minutes to get acknowledge by the waitress, once she came and we placed food and drink order all at once, it took another 15 minutes to get 2 cocktails and one lemonade which she forgot. Food took another 40 minutes. I ordered the Blackened Chicken with Mash potatoes in order to receive the "free kids meal" and my husnand ordered the Pulled Chicken Nachos. Upon delivering the food she forgot the utensils, my chicken had no mash potatoes and was told they would be out shortly so here I was with 2 pieces of basically frozen breast of chicken with a dry rub and a piece of corn bread and no accompaniment, after 10 minutes she asked if I wanted fries instead so I did not have to wait on mash potatoes but never really told me if they were out. So i ended up having stale/ greasy fries. This entree was $17.95!!! Now on to my husband's appetizer/ entree, the chicken meat in the nachos was a mix of dark and white hoever they failed to trim out cartilage, fat and was under cooked. Needless to say it ws disgusting and grossed us out. She removed the charge for the nachos but I was compelled to ask for the manager however having seen her remove the charge so quickly told me right away the manager would not have made a difference. I ended up paying over $54 for this terrible meal and drinks that is not much but it hurts to pay it when the meal experience is this bad. Will NEVER go there again, stay away if you have the chance. Not worth it. The drinks were decent and at $10 per cocktail is not too bad. But stay away from the food, save your money or go to Shorty's.

I gave 1 star b/c my margarita was good and my meal for 4 of us was FREE! FREE b/c service was terrible and food took almost an hour. We waited for 45m to sit only to see that the restaurant was empty, 8 tables maybe. Sunday evening, 6pm. Ordered food, 2 kids' meals and 2 regular adult meals, no special orders! after 35m, i asked the manager, after another 15mins i asked her again. Food came, mine incorrectly but it was workable. She comped our meal which def shouldve been done. We will NOT be returning unless it is to the bar for a drink. And apparently the very few tables around us were having similar experiences.

WORST BBQ EVER!!!! My husband and I ate at Brother Jimmy's a couple weeks ago. We were out on a Saturday night in South Miami so we knew that there would be a wait anywhere we went. The hostess informed us it would be a 45 minute wait, we wrote down our name and headed to their outside bar. We waited over an hour, when we finally got inside the restaurant was EMPTY!!! WTF!!! They are purposely making it look like the restaurant is busy so people will be interested in eating their slop! I ordered the "wet ribs" which is essentially just boiled ribs. That is it, no fuss just boiled ribs with store bought bbq sauce. I had a side of the fried brussels sprouts that were so salty i downed my drink in one gulp. The service was mediocre at best, my husband went to use one of their signature bbq sauces, it looked pretty watery to me so we put some on a spoon to try. Guess what...it was PURE vinegar! We let the server know and her response? "There are no red pepper flakes in there?" Seriously, does it matter? It's pure vinegar! If you want good bbq this is not the place especially if you have to wait more than five minutes. Save your time and money DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

We were out shopping last night and decided to try this place. We were kind of stuck with very few options because it was raining. We should have known something was off when the place was empty on a friday night inside a mall full of people. We were seated right away. The waitress was not very friendly. She brought the drinks promptly. We ordered our appetizers, and they took approximately 40 minutes to come out. We had the spinach dip and the popcorn shrimp. The spinach dip tasted like mac and cheese....please explain that one. The popcorn shrimp.....they were ok. While still working on the appetizers, our dinner arrived. I had ordered the turkey burger, which I thought was regular meat but was not even sure what the taste was. My husbands ribs were undercooked and tasted bitter. The kids had the chicken fingers and soggy fries. The refills for our drinks came almost at the end of our meal. In a nutshell, horrible service and horrible food. Great location for a much better restaurant.
